How Cratos came to be ?
In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, South Africa imposed a strict nationwide ban on the sale of alcohol. This created an unexpected problem for a group of friends, who found themselves with plenty of time on their hands, but nothing to do.
During one of their many Zoom calls, the topic of starting their own alcohol brand came up.
They all shared a passion for great-tasting drinks and saw this as an opportunity to turn their dream into a reality.
With the help of their combined expertise, they researched different types of alcohol, experimented with various recipes, and finally settled on a unique blend of locally sourced ingredients that they felt would appeal to a wide range of palates.
As the lockdown dragged on, the group continued to work on perfecting their recipe, and eventually, they had a product that they were proud of. They now needed a name for their brand, something that would evoke the spirit of South Africa. After much discussion, they decided on “Cratos” as it perfectly captured the essence of their homeland.
As soon as the lockdown lifted, the group set out to find the perfect distillery to produce their alcohol. They eventually found a small, family-owned operation that shared their passion for quality and craftsmanship.
It all started with a group of friends and a shared dream during the pandemic, but thanks to their passion and hard work, Cratos has become a reality.
